How colonoscopy can save life

Dubuque, IOWA (KCRG) -Color Color Cancer is the second main cause of cancer -related deaths in the United States.

Medical experts say that 60 %of the death cancer death can be avoided through appropriate screening tests.

March is the month of national colon recognition.

KCRG-TV9 talked about the importance of Dubuque’s Medical Associates Clinic and Ben Lee and colonoscopy.

Dr. LI explained how the colonoscopy can help prevent cancer.

“We find polyps, find mass, bleeding. Finding polyps can be biopsed and removed. We know that colon rectal cancer comes from polyps. We can prevent colon cancer when we first remove before it becomes cancer.”

Dr. Lee says it is recommended that people with an average risk are 45 years old to start a colonoscopy.

If you have a family history of colon cancer or symptoms occur (GI bleeding or blood stool), you need to select faster.

Dr. Lee said in the United States that 150,000 people will be diagnosed with colon cancer this year.

This year, 50,000 people will die of colon cancer.

In our lifetime, one of 25 women and 23 men will be diagnosed with colon cancer.
