The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) delayed the introduction of the new ‘healthy’ label rules for up to two months. CNN Reported.

In December, the FDA concluded the rules of updating the nutritional requirements to meet human food items to be “healthy” for the packaging.

This rule will be implemented on February 25th.

US President Donald Trump has published a memorandum frozen in the new rules until the department or the agency appointed or designated by the president in January, reviewing and approving the rules.

The memorandum of “Review of Regulatory Freeze” has also instructed the agency to postpone the fermentation date for rules that were posted in the Federal Registration Department but untested. CNN I wrote it.

Using a “healthy” labeling is voluntary to food manufacturers, and foods that meet new requirements can be started by using the label when the rules are effective, and those who do not meet the standard must comply with 2028 or 3 years.

“Healthy” foods should include a certain amount of major food groups such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, dry meat or low -fat dairy products, and sugar and saturated fat should be added.

According to the final rules, about 5%of all packaging foods in the market are displayed as “healthy”.

The report said that some of the foods that were previously able to carry healthy labels such as white bread and severe sweet cereals and yogurt would be no longer qualified.

New rules include qualified foods, nuts, seeds, salmon, olive oils and some peanut butter and canned fruit and vegetables.

The FDA was also trying to design a symbol in the package so that consumers can easily identify foods that are considered health.

According to the report, in addition to the in -depth label on the back of the packaging, the nourishing labeling is planning to go in front of the food packaging.

The FDA lasted in the 1990s that the “healthy” definition of the packaging was last updated, the FDA said on the February 24th website.

At that time, based on the guidelines of nutrition, science, and federalization, the definition was entirely on individual nutrients. For example, there are limitations for saturated fat, total fat, cholesterol and sodium, and a certain amount of beneficial nutrients such as specific vitamins, minerals, fibers and proteins are required.

The FDA said, “Today we are increasing the understanding of the effects of patterns and health, and we know that food is composed of various nutrients that work together as part of the pattern.
