Six former U.S. Surgeon Generals have issued a joint warning that the actions of Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are “endangering the health of our nation.”
Calling Kennedy’s stewardship a “profound, immediate and unprecedented threat,” the rare, unified outburst – washington post Opinion piece – replaced him with a leader “committed to scientific integrity.”
The Surgeon General is the operating director of the U.S. Public Health Service Commission, the federal government’s public health voice inside the Office of the Secretary of Health. This post advances science and evidence for presidential nominations, Senate confirmations, and traditional politics.

In a special broadside, even Trump appointee Jerome Adams damaged Kennedy, as did Richard Carmona, Joycelyn Elder, Vivek Murthy, Antonia Novello and David Satcher.
They said they “rejected science, misled the public, and compromised the health of Americans.”
They accused him of sidelining experts, staffing science panels and promoting misinformation that “eroded public trust” across HHS agencies, including the CDC, FDA and NIH.
“Instead of combating the rapid spread of health misinformation with facts and clarity, Kennedy is amplifying it,” they wrote.
The article cites numerous red flags. They say Vaxxer’s overhaul of the CDC’s vaccine advisory panel, removing all 17 sitting members and installing people who “often lacked basic qualifications,” downplayed long-standing recommendations.

that presentation Mass removal in June. On Oct. 6, the CDC adopted changes, including moving adult Covid vaccination to “shared clinical decision-making” and steering infant shots at the combined MMRV dose.
The surgeon also hammered out Kennedy’s already “most notorious” link to autism for his vaccine distortions.
HHS is criticized by medical professionals for last month striking an autism-linked warning label on acetaminophen products used in pregnancy. Clinicians, along with American obstetricians and gynecologists, called the move “irresponsible.” recheck Acetaminophen as the safest first-line fever and pain treatment in pregnancy and a warning that scarring may harm the patient.
The United States has endured its worst year of measles in more than 30 years. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention calculate It shows 1,544 infections so far, with the overwhelmingly unvaccinated patients sick, compared to 1,950 over the past five years.
Like the American Academy of Pediatrics told my parents There is no established autism link.
Inside HHS, the surgeon general says morale is “severely damaged” with scientists “silent and sidelined.”

They recalled “heartbreaking calls” from CDC employees who were “scared and betrayed” after Kennedy publicly rebuffed them following the shooting at CDC headquarters. “Repairing this damage requires leaders who respect scientific integrity and transparency.”
In why they came together to write an unprecedented article, the authors conclude: “This is bigger than politics. It’s about putting the health of Americans first.”
