Indeed’s Work Wellbeing Report, based on data points from 30 million people, reveals a troubling trend.
60% of respondents feel stressed at work most of the time. The survey measures 15 aspects of workplace well-being, from happiness and purpose to stress management, forming an overall “workplace well-being index.”
In the technology sector, where long working hours and rapid change are common, companies that foster a calmer work culture are gaining attention. Indeed’s new “Stress Free Score” ranks the top five least stressful tech employers in 2025.
Before you ask: No, it actually won’t. ~ no Tell us which tech company is the most stressful for you! The least stressful jobs in technology include:
- Intuit — Stress Free Score: ★★★★★ (High)
- IBM — Stress Free Score: ★★★☆☆ (Above Average)
- Nvidia — Stress Free Score: ★★★☆☆ (above average)
- yahoo! — Stress Free Score: ★★☆☆☆ (average)
- Microsoft — Stress Free Score: ★★☆☆☆ (average)
To me, the company that stands out the most here is Nvidia. The chipmaker rose to the top of the technology industry in just three years. Revenues have exploded, but the workforce is still very small.
Considering all this, how does Nvidia maintain a relatively stress-free workplace? I think one answer is that the company has done very few layoffs. This means that employees have significantly longer tenures. You can read about this in Eugene Kim’s great inside look into the workplace at Nvidia here.
Even in an era of rapid AI change, Nvidia employees will value long-term stability.
