Reno, NEV. As of March 20, 378 cases were confirmed and more than 285 cases were over 2024.
Cheryl Hug-English, the medical officer of the UNR Student Health Center, emphasized the seriousness of the situation. “I think it’s a misunderstanding that it doesn’t matter, but as we have seen recently, there can be a lot of money and unfortunately, sometimes mortality,” she said.
Students are the most vulnerable to disease at elementary and college campuses. Hug-English said, “As individuals start at school, they are with more people, they are in close contact with more individuals, class friends and friends, so we want to see them protected.
Nevada law mandates student vaccination of measles, but is allowed to exempt religion and medical reasons. But Hug-English pointed out that “if measles or other diseases occurred, we will have to leave the campus until our regional health occurs.”
At the University of Nevada, only 171 out of about 20,000 students are exempted. Despite the requirements for vaccination of students, the rest of the community does not mandate vaccinations.
Dr. MAVEL GUTIEREZ, an expert in pediatric infectious diseases of Renown Children’s hospital, emphasized the importance of vaccination. “Vaccines are fashionable loweritis, measles and rubella. The vaccine has 93%protection of dose and two doses of protection.”
Washoe County District and Truckee Meadows Community College Institutions all over the Washoe County organs cooperate with Northern Nevada Public Health when measles occur.
So far, the virus has not been found in Nevada.
