AI chatbots are gaining popularity not only as personal assists but also as therapists, companions and romantic partners.

According to A Pew Research Center Survey The use of CHATGPT, which was released last month, has doubled since 2023, and 58%of American adults under 30 years old. other inspectionIn North Carolina, Elon University finds out that half of American adults use some of the AI large language models.

But how can this increase in chatbots affect our daily lives and relationships? The Manoush Zomorodi of the NPR talked with two very different experts about how the chatbot forms our future.

This technical CEO wants everyone to have his own AI assistant.

Mustafa Sureyman, the CEO of Microsoft AI, said that each of us will have our own personalized AI companion in the future. This will help everything from vacation reservations to advice, software making, and software making. Sunyman is studying Copilot, an AI personal assistant in Microsoft.

Suleman told Zomorodi, “The wonderful thing about Copilot is that you don’t judge the foolish questions. “I think I’ve been inspired by nonviolent communication. … I have some kindness and empathy. I have emotional intelligence.”

In the case of Suleman, the AI companion will eventually be part of everyday life, just using a search engine or carrying a smartphone. He says they will play a role as confidence, colleagues, friends and partners, not just assistants.

“AIS will imitate humans convincingly in most work. … AI organizes a community that organizes a community for the elderly. We will also feel it on the largest scale, but we will also accelerate scientific discoveries and operate drones in the order of autonomous vehicles on the road. Snowman said His 2024 Ted Talk.

If social media and the Internet create access to information, Suleyman thinks this next step is digital technology, helping to invent and create new ideas. But he warns that it is important to design technology with intentions because technology will inevitably change our behavior.

“The choice architecture, buttons, colors, and languages form our actions. … So we have to think very much about what input is because technology forms us in return,” Suryman said. “We must be careful and thought about what the results are in advance.”

Is it attached to the chatbot? Psychologist’s warning on relationships with AI

Psychologist Sherry Turkle, Massachusetts Technology Research Institute, has been sent to study relationships with people and AI for decades.

Turkle told Zomorodi, “I’m intelligent and I’m intelligent. I’m worried about you. I love you. I’m here for you. Please take care of me.”

Her most recent study was the chatbot. Turkle said, “I’m going to be your lover in the chatbot that says,“ I will be your therapist. I will be your lover.

Tourle shared the story of a man looking for a romantic affirmation on a chatbot while living a stable marriage.

Turkle said, “His wife is busy.

So Tourle explained that the man started a text message and a text message that appeared as a young woman on the screen.

“He is an artificial intimacy avatar about what artificial intimacy avatars can be provided, and he is interested in it in a continuous positive strengthening and sexy way.” “Above all, his ideas, his thoughts, feelings, ‘you are absolutely right. … I see what you mean completely. … Thank you very much.”

Tourle told the man that he could speak freely and told Avatar that he would not tell others.

But this is where she saw the problem.

Turkle said, “I forget that this problem is that vulnerability is actually a place where empathy was actually born when looking for a relationship without vulnerability.” “I call what they agree with because they don’t agree with them. It doesn’t care about them. There is no house, and it is not a house, and it starts to define what human empathy, what human relationships, and what the machine can provide.”

Tourle said that friction of relationships is not only important, but also needs to develop intimacy. She is worried that people can forget this when they interact with the chatbot.

Tourle said, “Avatar can feel that the friction of relationships is too much stress.” But we need that stress. … The stress provides very important features in maintaining us in our real human body and true relationships. “
