This week, the Texas State Department’s Health Service Bureau has announced updated vaccine recommendations for 10 West Texas County, at the center of the ongoing measles that have insisted on two children’s lives and infected more than 500 people in the region.
22 Texas County has reported at least one measles, but in recent weeks, the state has designated a county with most measles as a “outbreak area”. On Monday, the onset area has been extended to six counties: COCHRAN, DALLAM, DAWSON, Gaines, Garza, Lamar, Lynn, LubBock, Terry and Yoakum.
Recommendations for those who travel or travel to the onset county include not only young children but also all ages Texas. The agency emphasized that vaccination is the best defense against measles, and that the measles-pump-lubela or MMR vaccine of two doses interfere with more than 97% of measles infection.
DSHS’s recommendations for the onset area:
- 6-11 months children receive a “onset” capacity if the MMR vaccine lives or travels to the onset county.
- Children over 12 months who have not been vaccinated as an MMR vaccine take follow -up after 28 days after receiving one dose.
- Youth and adults also need to provide the latest information for MMR vaccination.
- Born between 1957 and 1968, an adult who received only one MMR vaccine during that period
- Born before 1957, adults, pregnant women, and severe immunodeficiency patients should take MMR vaccines.

This guideline was provided by 30 slide presentations by Dr. Varun Shetty, DSHS’s top epidemiologist, at a public health and policy committee meeting of the state agency.
Shetty also emphasized that there is no specific antiviral therapy for measles and “vitamin A is not preventive treatment.”
Vitamin A is not a measles. But symptoms can be reduced for those with severe vitamin A deficiency.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. This is a long -standing treatment by the Minister of Health and Human Service. As a measles, it is a discounted doctor’s discount because most Americans get enough vitamin A from regular diets.
Since the public is asking questions about using vitamin A to alleviate measles symptoms, the main institution Recommended Patients interested in vitamin A consult a medical service provider. The state agency also provides this guideline.
- Under the supervision of medical service providers, vitamin A can be administered to infants and children in the United States with measles as part of support management.
- In addition, if you recommend vitamin A under the supervision of a doctor, you must administer immediately after the measles and repeat the dose in a total of twice the next day.
The State Health Bureau warned that inappropriate medication could lead to vitamin A toxicity.
According to DSHS, the recommended daily dose is vitamin A. According to DSHS, 50,000 IU for infants of less than 6 months, 100,000 IU for infants of 6-11 months, and 200,000 IU for children for more than 12 months.
The inclusion of vitamin A occurs after a month after disease control and prevention center. I made a similar presentation Two days after the first West Texas child died of measles on February 28.
