Stearns County, Minn. (KTTC) -The spread of H5N1 continues to affect cows all over the country.
Earlier this month, the Minnesota Agriculture Department started the RAW COW ‘S Milk test on more than 1,600 dairy farms throughout the state.
The Minnesota Animal Health Committee has now confirmed the first detection of the virus in a group of dairy products in Stearns County, northwest of the twin cities.
USDA’s national veterinarian service laboratory has detected this incident on Friday.
Michael Crusan, a communication director of the Minnesota Animal Health Committee, said that when the H5N1 was detected, the board of directors had been in quarantine.
The case manager is assigned to each case and walks the farm at all stages.
Crusan said the farm is quarantined because there are no products leaving real estate to reduce the spread of disease.
“We are working with the case manager in a test protocol that samples the milk every week and finds three consecutive tests.”
He has been shown to be effective in removing the virus when the particles of the H5N1 virus are made into a healthy milk supply device, which is effective in removing the virus.
According to CRUSAN, this month’s test results are pleasantly amazing to the Minnesota Animal Health Committee.
