British gambling: survey

Spread the love

According to a new national survey, almost half of the adult population shows how gambling is organized in everyday life, but the most heavy play in the community is often found in the local community.

The gambling committee has announced a second annual gambling survey for the UK (GSGB). According to a survey of 19,714 people, it shows not only how much adults are, but also how they have a habit and risk depending on the location, financial situation and their chosen games.

The survey adds continuous discussions on the UK’s gambling regulations, and policymakers maintain the balance of consumer protection and prosperous game industries.

Player’s country

Almost half of the adults bet, bought tickets, or played last month.

According to a survey, 48%of adults have gambled for the last four weeks. Except for the lottery, this dropped to 28%and showed how dominant the lottery was in British gambling habits.

Motivation for many people was simple. Getting money was the main reason for 85%of the respondents, and 72%said they had gambling because they were fun.

When asked about experience, only 21%of gamblers reported negative, and 42%reported negative compared to 42%that they were positive. The split suggests that in most cases, gambling is considered to be entertainment, but there is still a higher risk group.

Weekly gambling and deprivation

The most common gamblers were also the most economically disadvantageous.

The survey found a clear connection between daytime gambling and deprivation. In the most deprived areas, 27%of people gambled at least once a week. Only 14%did in the most deprived areas.

Those who gambling every week were likely to live in the housing association accommodation or to have less official qualifications. The committee summarized the trend.

“People who gamble every week have a profile that matches socially and economically disadvantaged than those who gamble all activities less.”

This discovery emphasizes how gambling can be further in the community that has already faced financial pressure, raising concerns about whether gambling provides relief or intensifying the shortcomings.

Sign

The problem gambling score is low as a whole, but it still shows a trend.

The report found that 2.7%of the participants scored eight or more points in the Gambling Significance Index (PGSI), suggesting the risk of damage. 1.6%of more people said that gambling contributed directly to the breakdown of the relationship.

Certain products have more dangerous than other products. Online betting for non -sports events, scratch cards and direct slot machines was closely related to higher PGSI scores.

In contrast, those who participated in the lottery are very different. They are old and married, and the owners of the housing suggest that they are unlikely to experience more stable demographics and damage.

Regional preparation

Gambling activities are rapidly different nationwide.

North West reported 14%of the highest weekly gambling per week. The northeastern and Wales were the lowest at 5%and 8%of the southern West. This regional difference is that the British gambling culture is not uniform, and some areas are almost three times more gambling than other regions every week.

Response from regulators

The gambling committee says it is strengthening the rules to reduce the risk.

Andrew Rhodes, the CEO of the Gambling Committee, has already pointed out measures to solve the damage.

  • New financial vulnerabilities for those who spend 150 pounds a month
  • Prohibition of automatic playback function and slow game speed for online slots
  • Age verification requirements of the venue
  • Restrictions on multi -product marketing proposals
  • Essential prompt for the player to set the deposit limit before the first payment

From October 31st, this new rules will be completely fermented, providing more tools to play gambling to players.

Wider

Gambling profits are increasing even in more strict rules.

Interestingly, the report pointed out that the total gambling return (GGY) actually increased in the first quarter after the steak limit was introduced online and land -based slots. In the case of regulators, this suggests difficult questions. If profits continue to rise, are new protection measures strong enough to balance the balance of consumer protection?

According to a survey, gambling remains a source of fun and excitement for millions of people, but emphasizes how the risk is concentrated on certain groups, especially those who live in deprivated areas.

It is a challenge for the operator. How can the industry from preventing gambling prevents gambling safe, fun, and most of the social division?
