Original Story published by Kneb News July 17, 2025:
Due to the lack of mental health experts throughout Nebraska, the behavioral health department is temporarily closed at the Regional West Medical Center of Scottsbluff, which is making additional challenges in our region.
Local West was the only health care facility with resources for individuals who determined that the law enforcement agency could need immediate and acute mental health support.
Last week, Bridgeport News-Blade said at the recent meeting by Morrill County Sheriff Milo Cardenas at the County Committee at the recent meeting, in this conversation with the KNEB news through a conversation with the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman I checked.
Overman said his institution had heard of the lack of local employees and the need for shift in mid -June. He said the situation affects not only his jurisdiction but also the jurisdiction of Panhaandle.
According to the survey of Kneb News, the local western president and CEO NED RESCH responded to the statement in accordance with the statement.
Overman says the EPC case is now required to transport to North Platte’s hospital until the current and RWMC conversion ends. But if you can’t use the bed in the facility, the transportation will take such an individual and one or two executives to a medical facility far east.
The Nebraska Law cannot handle an EPC case that can meet the needs of an individual who needs immediate treatment, even if there is a medical facility nearby.
