Fox 2 – The first case of measles in Michigan was confirmed in Metro Detroit.
Back story:
Kate Guzman, Oakland County Health Officer, said the incident is an infected adult who has recently returned from an international travel. She said she could not be sure of vaccination.
Guzmaneun said that the transmission period of this incident was from March 3 to March 11. The infected person said he returned home from his trip on February 27. The symptoms began on March 3 and the rash began on March 7. On March 8 they found caring for Henry Ford Rochester ER.
“This is an important point … we see the infectious period of measles until the start of the rash.” “The rash began (March 7), because people with measles are contagious four days before the start of the rash 4 days before the start.
Kuzmann remembers that measles are one of the most contagious diseases that the virus spreads through contagious drops. “And there is air through cough, sneezing, song, and horses.”
Guzman said that the classic symptoms are runny nose and pink eyes. She warned anyone who was exposed to not calling first and not going to the emergency room.
“If we inform the medical service provider, we need to take appropriate isolation prevention measures so that we can protect the public and all other patients in the facility,” she said. “Once again, measles are very contagious.”
She said the measles can live in the air for up to two hours after the incident left the area.
Timeline:
List of location that this person was during the infectious period between March 3 and March 11:
- On March 7, the infected incident went to Kruse and Muer restaurants from Rochester’s main between 5:30 pm and 9:30 pm.
- The infected incident on March 8 went to Henry Ford Rochester.
- On March 10, they returned to the same bed.
Guzman said, “Honestly, we were very lucky because other exposure visited the emergency room twice.” “It’s very rare in measles.”
Guzman warned his parents who wanted to get a natural exemption from measles instead of being vaccinated.
She said in Texas that a measles party is being held if a measles party exposes intentionally invaded children.
“I can’t be able to discourage this practice enough,” she said. “Measles party is dangerous and threatens the lives of young children.”
