Rockford’s Stepping Stones, which helps adults with serious mental illness, have been cut off in the latest housing facilities.
Rockford, Illinois -Designed in a new housing center designed to help members of the community who are struggling with serious mental illness, a major stage for Winnebago County’s mental health was carried out.
This project is possible thanks to the semi -cent sales Seinbago County Mental Health Sales, which voters chose to renew the November for five years.
Taxes add half per dollar spent by County to create an average annual $ 15 million annually to support mental health organizations. Over the past five years, taxes have directly funded for more than 41 programs, and the number continues to increase.

The new group housing in the east of Rockford has 10 rooms and has 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.

Sue Schroeder, who has worked with Stepping Stones for the past 30 years, said, “We are very pleased with the community and are pleased with the individuals we serve and the individual who can serve.
This breakthrough is displayed at the time when the organization first started construction in a new facility.
Schroeder said, “The individual who comes to us in the treatment of home -level levels is a symptom of mental illness, so we can stabilize them and meet psychiatrists to get the right drug,” Schroeder said.
“We will try to teach everyday life, cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry, hygiene, and all activities they can.”
This new facility will join the six other group houses already operated by Stefing Stones, but it is possible to access the first handicap. Another unique aspect of this project is location. The location was built in the neighborhood to provide a greater normal sense to the future residents.
Schoeder said, “We can drive a street where one of our groups are home and we will challenge our neighbors to pick us.
McNamara says that this is just one example of how mental health sales change their lives.
“In terms of county, this mental health sales tax will be seen as one of the most important things we have done in a few years.”
“I still need it. I think you are looking at the approach when you need it. You see where people go back for that approach. I still think it’s hard to find out if the average resident of our community is still suffering from mental health experience.”
By the end of 2025, the new group housing construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 by moving in early 2026.
