State health officials say the patients are not vaccinated and are now isolated.
The New Oleans -Louisiana Health Ministry (LDH) confirmed the first measles in 2025 in adults in the New Orleans region, officials announced Saturday.
The patient is one area, including Oleans, Jefferson, Plasemin and St. Bernard Diocese, and has not been vaccinated against measles. According to LDH, exposure seems to be related to international travel.
The patient was treated at a local hospital but was not hospitalized. They are isolated at home and are expected to be isolated until they are no longer contagious.
Representative Philip Devillier, the main speaker of the House of Representatives, sent a statement.

Symptoms usually occur 7-14 days after exposure and include:
- High fever (104 ° F can reach)
- Cough, runny nose, red/water eyes
- Small white spots in the mouth (koplik spots)
- Rash spreading after 3-5 days after initial symptoms
If you think you are exposed or showing symptoms:
- Call the medical provider immediately.
- Do not go to the clinic. Alternatively, the emergency room that is not announced -you can call in advance so that you do not expose others.
- Stay home and avoid school, work or big meetings.
- Monitor symptoms for up to 21 days after potential exposure.
- If you are not immunity, your provider may recommend MMR vaccine or immunoglobulin to reduce your risk.
