Ashland, ky. (WSAZ) -Ashland’s doctors are guilty of federal charges in the Monday weight loss clinic.

According to the US lawyer’s office in eastern Kentucky, 44 -year -old Dr. Matthew Lewis was found guilty of selling wrong medicines and cheating or misleading.

The researchers say that Semaglutide, a wrong brand used in metal loss drugs such as Wegovy, has been purchased to manage patients in a weight loss clinic from California and Georgia suppliers.

Between May 2023 and February 2024, the weight loss clinic of the Lewis Family Care earned almost $ 250,000, managing unlawful Semaglutide.

Lewis has gained semaglutide from unauthorized suppliers at a fairly lower cost than legitimate prescription drugs.

Lewis will be sentenced on August 18. He is sentenced to up to three years in prison.
