Texas reports 561 measles in January. The UTA starts an interactive exhibition to raise awareness, showing how the virus spreads through one household.
The number of measles in Texas Alington -Texas continues to increase, and the state health authorities have reported 20 new infections in the last five days. As a result, the total number of cases has been 561 since the end of January.
As concerns grow, Alington’s University of Texas uses education as a tool to fight wrong information and promote awareness.
Nursing and Health Innovation College unveiled a new dialogue type “measles” experience within home health suits.
Jennifer Roye, an assistant professor of the simulation technology, said, “We wanted it to be very noticeable.” It’s all from one of our employees who traveled to the beach and wondered about the nine -month -old measles. “
The exhibition is similar to the museum display and immerses visitors in the actual scenario. Seven patient profiles in single furniture are used to explain how quickly measles can spread.
One scenario includes patients like “Grandpa Miller”, a fictional cancer patient who receives chemotherapy.

The QR code provides a short digital pamphlet that deals with preventive methods, symptoms, complications and frequent questions.
Students, staff and the public are recommended to explore the display and test them. Visitors are asked to answer questions about risk factors and transmission.
One student said, “It is a fun way for people to interact and learn at the same time.” I think the display is really good. “
As measles continues to increase, UTA’s exhibitions provide a timely notification and practice approach to public health education. It will run until May 9th.
