More than 9 million veterans are treated every year through the Veterans Health Bureau, the largest health care system in the United States. The same or achieved Better results at a lower cost than the private sector. And now the Trump administration is intentionally designed to worsen this treatment. As a result, Veterans will suffer.
After practicing for 25 years as a first medical doctor at the Seattle VA Medical Center, I retired in January for not related to the November elections. Thank you for serving a variety of Veterans groups during that period. I learned a lot of patients and clinical trials, and I saw a nursing system in a way that seemed to avoid other Washington people in hell to change this system.
I can say that I am absolutely clear that my colleagues have a firm dedication to serving Veterans. And with equal confidence, I can say that they offer great treatment. Last month, they were shot by the guidelines that were deeply problems.
Some of these guidelines are already distracting and blaming excessive medical providers. The VA staff requires an email every Saturday night and justifies the work on the federal management email address, not the supervisor within 48 hours. Following the playbook in the dystopian novel, other communication divides and sprinkles fear between employees. Many e -mails were required for LGBTQ+ staff and veterans by demanding VA leadership to stop all pride. Stop the system where employees can enter pronouns through writing. All clinical treatment documents, education, and research are required. Actual damage is being made.
Some administrative efforts are more Direct destructive. Cancer treatment has been cut. VA employees, including veterans with disabilities, were fired, and many people conducted important medical research. And 80,000 workers are in the cutting board. Veterans’ disability evaluations have been reduced to qualify for treatment. And the list continues.
Yes, VA, like most large systems, can use some reforms. No one knows more clearly than those who have been part of the system for several years. The qualification problem for Veterans can be complicated. The computer system is Jurassic. However, it is clear that the executive’s evil effort can be obtained by listening to the veterans and medical providers rather than the software venture capitalist who runs in DC -DC.
Our veterans are better qualified than dividing slashed VA personnel into fear and doubt. This is the minimum that can be provided to the people we have served. The administration’s efforts to undermine VA nursing should be stopped.
