A recall has been announced for Super Green powdered dietary supplements sold at Sam’s Club after nearly a dozen people suffered salmonella infections linked to the products, according to health officials.

Member’s Mark Super Green Powder supplement has been pulled from store shelves because it contains moringa leaf powder, which may be contaminated with salmonella. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
Infections were confirmed in seven states, including Florida, Kansas, Michigan, North Carolina, New York, South Carolina, and Virginia. Illnesses were reported between May and September.
The source of the salmonella was traced to a single lot of organic moringa leaf powder imported from Vallon Farm Direct, Jodhpur, India. U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
State health officials in Virginia and Michigan have been collecting and testing product samples from the homes of sick people.

What is moringa?
Moringa is a plant native to India and other countries known for its essential nutrients, including proteins, amino acids, vitamins and minerals, according to a study published by the National Institutes of Health. The leaves can be dried and ground into powder.
Symptoms of Salmonella Infection
Symptoms of salmonella poisoning include diarrhea, fever, severe vomiting, dehydration, and stomach cramps. Most people who get sick recover within a week.
In young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems, the infection may be serious and require hospitalization.
