I think Wegovy gave me a kick start. I was able to stop the craving of sugar, which felt like addiction to me. My doctor says the patient can stop drinking while taking Wegovy and even stop using cocaine. Then I entered a program like AA or addiction treatment.
According to my experience and doctors, scientists should study Wegovy as a means of helping addicts to help them, not weight loss drugs.
no way. Evidence is increasing that drugs such as Semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic) can reduce drinking even for people with alcohol problems (March 6, 2025 Journal of Clinical Investigation). There is also a preliminary proposal that Semagluide can help people with cigarettes and other drug dependence (Annals of International Medicine, August 2017). We agree that researchers should explore the potential advantages of GLP-1 drugs for addiction.
