As in the beginning of 2016, the 34 -year -old Katie May had nothing to do.
The US Influoride recently selected ‘Queen of Snapchat’ by Playboy Magazine due to a tremendous followers of photo sharing social media apps. In Instagram, she gathered an amazing 2 million followers.
And KATIE had a tremendous success as he raised his seven -year -old daughter Mia.
But for Katie, everything will change in a few seconds.
While taking pictures in Los Angeles, Katie pinched her neck and left her painfully. Desperate for relief, she made an appointment with the spinal acupressure, an alternative therapist who provides practice adjustment to alleviate the problems of bones, muscles and joints.
In the UK, there are more than 10 million spinal acupressure promises every year and 35 million in the United States. But sometimes it can be deadly wrong, as in the case of Katie May.
While treating Katie, the spinal acupressure twists the neck and cuts the artery from the spine to supply blood from the heart to the brain.
Katie was admitted to the hospital where she eventually died a few hours after a stroke.
Our study is suffering from about half of all patients who see the spinal acupressure and suffer from the spinal manipulation -usually pain and stiffness (a picture raised by the model).
Katie’s tragic death at that time created a headline in the United States. People were shocked by what happened because it was not only safe to visit the spinal acupressure.
After all, many would have reasoned. How can I practice legally if the spinal acupressure is not safe?
However, as discovered in 30 years of investigating the evidence of the practice of spinal orthodontic therapy, the most shocking thing is that serious complications such as KATIE May are much more common than everyone realizes. But it is not reported too often.
I was always not a Cairo fractic skepticist.
In the early 1980s, when I was trained as a junior doctor in Germany, I learned to hand the spinal manipulation techniques designed to alleviate the pain of patients with problems, such as a problem.
Later, as the head of the Physics Rehabilitation at Vienna University, we used this technology routine.
However, when I became chairman of the Department of Complementary Medicine of the Extra University in 1993, my opinion on this practice changed.
At that point, I worked to analyze the science of alternative therapy.

I was most surprised when I studied the evidence of Cairo Fractics. Many of these technologies were used regularly, but there was no evidence that spinal manipulation reduced pain or effective in treating other conditions.
More badly, many patients seemed to have been injured in the hands of the spinal thread.
Our study shows that about half of all patients who see the spinal acupressure and suffer from the spinal manipulation are suffering from side effects: pain and stiffness.
These symptoms are usually not serious and usually disappear after a few days.
But I also began to catalog a long list of patients with serious complications after a cairo fractivation, including stroke, bone fractures, paralysis and death.
Spinal acupressors insisted that these events were rare for a long time. But the truth is that no one knows because there is no system in the UK or other countries.
In 2001, I asked all the members of the Extra Team and I to trace the number of patients suffering within 24 hours after seeing the spinal acupressure.
For just one year, our monitoring has discovered a total of 35 cases where the patient suffered a spinal acupressure injury.
This included multiple stroke, bleeding that threatened the lives between the skull and the brain, and serious spinal cord damage.

In particular, either of these cases have not been reported in medical literature or elsewhere before.
This raised a terrible question. How many British patients were severely injured by the spinal acupressure?
Not all spinal acupressures are created the same.
The most dangerous is the gospel of the spinal orthodontic therapy producer Daniel David Palmer.
Palmer was a voluntary ‘self -therapist’ 120 years ago and claimed that the principle of spinal manipulation was delivered to him by a doctor who died half a century ago.
Palmer believed that the chiro fractics could be used to treat all diseases, including infections and cancer. Worryingly, there are still many spinal acupressors who still have this funny belief.
Those who admit that Palmer are chalatan are less threatening, but I think that the spinal manipulation can improve muscles and joint pain.
However, even the reformed spinal acupressure is not harmless, and the patient’s health and welfare can be at risk.
What I’m particularly anxious is that almost all spinal acupressors ignore medical ethics every day.
In medicine, there is an important concept known as prior consent. This means that the patient must be fully informed about the nature and risks of all treatment.
In the case of spinal manipulation, this means that the patient should say that treatment is not effective about his condition. It should also be seen that spinal manipulation often leads to minor injuries and can lead to life -threatening complications or death.
However, the spinal acupressure rarely provides this information to the patient. It is easy to see why. If they do so, they will be afraid of most customers.
This will greatly reduce income, which also means that the spinal acupressure has enormous conflicts.
In all this, I do not judge the patient looking for a spinal acupressure.
About one -third of the British lives with chronic pain. Half of this patient has back pain. This is difficult to treat.
It is not surprising that many people suffer from pain, such as spinal orthodontic therapy.
But the truth is that it may require a lot of effort for the patient to prevent or fight pain.
Turning to regular exercise, weight loss, and harder mattresses and lifting heavy things can be a way to prevent back pain.
Many patients will also benefit from a session with a physical therapist who teaches the exercise designed to reduce the pain in the affected area and improve mobility.
Spinal acupressure is almost not the answer to the problem. Often they will just create new-sometimes threatening life.
