MISSION ACT SCRIBES Pilot: Implementation and cost

Medical clerk As a non -clinical support employee who is dedicated to clinical documents while visiting medical visits, providers can focus on patients. Existing research The scribe shows that it can improve provider productivity and satisfaction and minimize the time spent on documents.

When the mission law was passed in 2018, one of the laws had to perform a medical scribe pilot for two years. The goal was to determine how the medical clerk affects the VHA clinic function. The pilot was conducted in the emergency room, heart and orthopedic clinic.

Partner’s Evidence -based Policy Resources Center (PEPREC) evaluated the pilot and announced a policy brief for the results in 2023. Read the entire brief here.

PEPREC is a team of health economists, public health research institutes and policy analysts who participate in policy admissions to improve the lives of veterans through advanced quantitative methods that are mostly funded by QUERI in the Veterans Health Bureau.
