NHS is opening a mental health A & E network throughout the UK to alleviate the pressure on the hospital in the ongoing “corridor management” crisis.
The unit will be an employee with a professional doctor and a nurse, and will provide 24/7 support for patients who feel suicide or experience symptoms such as psychosis or enthusiasts.
Unlike the hospital’s “noise and chaos”, the patient can walk by the GP and the police designed as a “calm and welcome” environment or refer to the police.
Jim Mackey, chief executive of NHS England, said, “The crowded A & ES is not designed to treat people in a mental health crisis, so we should be better, so we are pioneering new treatment models that are properly supported in the right environment.
“In addition to alleviating the pressure on busy A & E, the Mental Health Crisis Evaluation Center can accelerate the appropriate treatment to provide people with the help that needs faster to go out of the hospital.”
