Unique learning opportunities: struggle for colonies and health
The application is invited to participate in the upcoming International People’s Health College (IPHU) short -term “colonial and health struggle.” On October 5-11, 2025, at the MPARNTWE (Alice Springs) in central Australia, the course is sponsored by the People’s Health Movement (PHM) and the Central Australian Aboriginal Parliament. IPHU will have a hybrid -type local meeting on October 12, 25.
IPHU will explore the barriers to health and decent medical care in the context of colonies and imperialism. The history of Australia’s settlement colonialism, the effects of the indigenous people and the Torres Strait Islands, and their resistance and elasticity will be considered with the history, influence and resistance of the extracting colonialism of the East Asia and the Pacific.
Although the institutional structure of colonial power has been replaced, the poison of colonialism is continuously circulated by ignorance, other, and non -human colonial poison, which continues by capitalism and the economic relationship of imperialism.
We will reflect our challenges and experiences and create a new story about our devotion to health for everyone.
Humanity comes worldwide in conflict, global warming, health care rejection, inequality, unfair trade, and sixth extinction.
The difference is different in our community, such as various hunger, housing, conflict, unemployment, environmental decline, drought and despair. But the same big picture structure leads to this different effect.
- Capitalism requires the growth of production, consumption and accumulation, but ignores justice and ecological sustainability.
- Imperialism deploys unequal power to force unequal exchange.
- Greed’s cure and ‘guitar’ oppose the culture of solidarity and inclusion. and
- Capitalism coincides with patriarchal and racism, dividing and conquering.
We will create new stories that connect grass root behavior and global impact. We face local demands by challenging large -scale structures!
IPHU (International People’s Health University) is a major competency construction program of PHM. The struggle for colonial and health will be organized around the story of the struggle, from the challenges of local groups to the region and the global challenges faced with people’s health movements.
