Swiss covid experts urged the public to start wearing a mask once again in just three years after the official end of Kobid-19. This is because the health authorities are expected to surge in virus infections throughout the winter, as the Cobid cases are continuously increasing throughout the UK.
Swiss immunologists emphasized that wearing a facial mask can greatly help inhibit the propagation of viruses like Corona 19. This guideline is primarily aimed at those who are most risk of serious illness due to viral infections, including those who have weakened the immune system, but not vulnerable people can wear masks. When the fan -decimics were at a peak throughout the UK, the government implemented its mandatory regulations to demand facial hidden in certain public places with the highest risk of violation of viruses such as shops, supermarkets, public transportation, and NHS facilities.
Tanja Stadler, the epidemiologist of ETH Zurich and Chairman of the Swiss Federal Cobid Science Committee, said in an interview with Sonntagszeitung: “In crowded and closed spaces like public transportation, it is recommended for vulnerable people, that is, those who are over 65 years old or have damaged immune systems. Even those who are not vulnerable can protect themselves from infections that are problems and show the following solidarity at the same time.”
However, Tanja stressed that it does not require each government to impose another mandatory facial mask obligation, such as being witnessed when the epidemic reached its peak. Rather, she suggested that the authorities should set up a ‘viral bulletin board’ to help people warn people potential virus hotspots.
She said, “There are already data on the spread of viruses, but the public cannot easily access it. It will help people who want to protect themselves to act accordingly.”
Similarly, Marcel Tanner, an honorary professor at the University of Basel and a former Corona Task Force member, said: “According to all we have learned, people with colds will be at least wearing masks in public transportation.”
The current situation in Kobid in the UK
According to the latest data from the UK Health and Safety Agency (UKHSA), the 19 cases of Corona have increased significantly every week from October 3. 2,459 new cases were newly confirmed for a week until September 24.
On the other hand, by September 10, the number of cases increased by 7.6% compared to last week. Most of these new cases are caused by the new Stratus corona virus variant with two variants: XFG and XFG.3.
This new variant has been reported to cause a fairly serious voices with general symptoms such as fever and fatigue. But experts emphasized that there is no reason to believe that the current variants are more fatal than other variants currently in distribution.
Dr. Allen of Ukhsa said, “The information available so far has no evidence that the XFG and XFG.3 variants cause more serious diseases than the previous variants, or that the vaccine currently used is less effective.”
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) says the XFG strands are ‘low risks’ worldwide. “The XFG is growing faster than the worldwide variants worldwide, but the XFG only shows insignificant additional immune avoidance compared to LP.8.1 (other variations).
“It has been reported that the case and hospitalization have increased in some countries with the highest proportion of XFG (Southeast Asia), but there is no report that the severity of related diseases is higher than that of other circulating variants. The available evidence for XFG does not suggest additional public health risks compared to other Omicron descendants.”
