After another record of violation of health data, the updated federal security rules to protect patient information are in the table in 2025. Patients and providers have long complained to HIPAA or Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act to protect the patient’s sensitive health data in the digital era.
However, in thousands of public opinions, the health system and provider actively withdrawn the proposed changes on the security rules. Increasing personal information protection affects the financial survival of medical practice, especially small patients and timely patient treatment.
According to the HIPAA security rules, David BluMenthal, a national coordinator of the Obama administration’s health information technology, said, “This is a blemish with a very technical requirement of technical requirements, and I think it will be threatening and scary other than the largest health care system. “This raises important questions about whether small practices and small institutions can effectively protect patient privacy in our new era.”
