When you register, you will be asked to report your respiratory symptoms on our website each week. Submitting your information is quick and easy. You will play a part in protecting the health of all of us across the country. Starting this season, you can also track your symptoms on your profile each week. We also encourage you to share the link with your friends and family. The more you participate, the better your data will be.

UKHSA’s purpose is to protect the public from all health threats, from infectious diseases to nuclear accidents. To achieve this, we monitor health risks and develop ways to deal with them, which makes science a big part of our work.

We are strengthening our comprehensive surveillance system to monitor flu and other seasonal respiratory viruses during the winter months. FluSurvey is one of the key methods we use to understand how these viruses spread in our communities. This is valuable information for us as symptoms may not be picked up as not everyone who feels unwell calls 111, visits their GP or goes to hospital. Community-based systems such as FluSurvey include data from people managing their symptoms at home, providing an early understanding of respiratory disease activity in the overall population.

The value of real-time data on respiratory diseases provided directly by households across the country to existing information sources is enormous. It’s like thousands of health detectives spread out across the country, working together to build a comprehensive picture of flu-like illnesses. By participating in FluSurvey, you are contributing to an important piece of a larger puzzle. The data you submit will become part of the awards.
