The new report emphasizes parliamentary legislative solutions.

Meaning: NFIB has published a report on the health insurance crisis that affects small business owners and confirmed the best policy solutions for the Congress to alleviate the burden.

Our take: “For almost 40 years, health insurance costs have been the biggest concern for small business owners and are now at an interruption point. Small markets collapse, premiums cannot be sustainable, and small businesses should make difficult choices. Without the immediate and goal policy reform, millions of Americans can lose access to health insurance sponsored by employers.

action : Inform Congress to increase the choice of health care and reduction in costs for small businesses.

98 %of small businesses said they are concerned about whether they can continue to provide health insurance for the next five years. NFIB emphasized the economic crisis and published a report calling for Congress to rescue small businesses across the country.

According to the report, the crisis is increasing as 15 million individuals have plummeted in 2014 in the small group market, which has plummeted 15 million individuals in 2023. Only 30%of small businesses still offer health insurance, which has fallen from almost 50%in 2000, and small businesses are less competitive than large businesses for health insurance.

The NFIB has allowed the ability to relax this burden, including many recommendations for Congress, and allow more small businesses to provide health insurance at a lower speed to maintain competitiveness. The solution list includes:

  • We support small businesses aimed at deduction of health insurance tax
  • Individual range expansion health repayment contract (Ichras)
  • Expansion of access to health savings account (HSA)
  • Remove one size order that increases premium costs and restricts competition.
  • Promote price transparency and price certainty

Small business owners can learn more about other solutions and read the entire report released by NFIB in February. In addition, listen to a new episode of Marcie Strous, a NFIB member about how parliamentarians can deal with the Health Insurance Economy Crisis before Congress.

action : Inform Congress to increase the choice of health care and reduction in costs for small businesses.
