Four years after they first opened, Buckingham Bakery is making a new challenge.
Bake ability, which has a mission to provide meaningful employment opportunities and vocational skills to individuals with intellectual and development disorders, is expanding into a new second kitchen dedicated to gluten -free baking.
“We are trying to serve those who want to support bread. People who eat gluten -free are not mainstream, so they feel like they are suitable for our mission.
Bakery’s new gluten -free product line will be added to the menu from May 7th.
Chocolate and vanilla cupcakes, classic chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter cookies should appear in the initial rollout. Each is packaged and displayed individually with the rest of the bakery.
“We are always listening to our customers and it is clear that the gluten -free option is not just a trend,” said Fasciano. “If you open a separate kitchen, you will not be able to do it, so everyone can enjoy the grilled food with peace of mind.”
All gluten -free items are made exclusively in a new commercial kitchen located in Warminster.
The bakery is operated with the help of 18 employees with disabilities, nine food safety certification managers, three volunteers and two job coaches.
When asked if a new space would lead to an additional job opportunity, Fasciano hoped to do so. Right now, they start a new kitchen with the employees.
Fasciano said, “We have been awarded because we have seen some of them receiving their first salary and are proud of their pride and moving to other types of paid employment.
“We are doing something beyond the baked product here.”
