(Gray News) – A pharmaceutical company has announced a voluntary recall of its blood pressure medication after a reported carcinogenic chemical was found in the prescription medication.
According to US Food and Drug AdministrationTeva Pharmaceuticals has announced a recall after a carcinogenic compound was discovered in certain prazosin hydrochloride capsules.

The FDA said the recalled drugs may contain the impurity N-nitrosoprazosin at higher than acceptable levels.

This medication is commonly used to treat high blood pressure.
However, the FDA reported that 580,844 bottles may contain excessive nitrosamine impurities, which have been linked to cancer.
The products subject to recall include 181,659 bottles of 1mg capsules, 291,512 bottles of 2mg capsules, and 107,673 bottles of 5mg capsules.
