(WXYZ) -In today’s health warnings, the one-year-old girl of Ingham County is now the fifth measles in Michigan. She received the first measles vaccine just before passing through the Michigan Airport, where there were measles.

First of all, I am very happy to have chosen a family to be vaccinated for a 12 -month -old daughter. But all parents need to know. It takes about 2-3 weeks to build complete protection even if the body takes only a few days to make an antibody.

Therefore, in this case, young girls are likely to have been exposed before the immune system has enough time to react. Thankfully, she is doing well and there is a light event.

Now I want to emphasize that measles vaccines work really well. One dose is about 93%protection and the dose is about 97%. It’s great but not perfect. So a few people can still be sick. If that happens, the disease is usually light and there is less likely to spread the virus.

The best way to protect from measles is measles such as MMR vaccines, flaws and rubella.

Children need two doses. The first is from 12 to 15 months. The second is 4-6 years.

However, the second capacity can be administered early after 28 days of the first dose.

There is a version called MMRV (including protection of chickenpox), which has been approved for children until age 12.

Many adult patients now ask, “How can I know if I protect?” The words of the CDC are as follows:

  • If it was born before 1957, it could be protected because measles were so common at that time.
  • If you were born between 1957 and 1989, you would have had only one dosage. Most people are generally enough. However, the CDC recommends two doses in the following cases.
    • Work in health care
    • I am traveling internationally
    • Live or work in a place where there is an onset

If you are not sure, you can safely obtain a second dose or ask your doctor about blood tests to check your immunity. Finally, if you are planning to travel out of the country or traveling to a place where there is a place of onset, everyone will be completely vaccinated at least two weeks before going.
