GLP-1 weight loss drugs are changing the way people date and connect. The GLP-1 user reported a wide range of physical, social, and psychological changes in the national representative survey of 2,000 single American adults (between 18 and 91 years of age) led by Kinsey Institute of Indiana University with datingadvice.com.
Of the 2,000 respondents, 8% (n = 155) reported that GLP-1 drugs were used to help weight loss. 59%of GLP-1 users reported at least one effect of drugs, including the following.
- 17%bought new clothes to show off their bodies
- 16%heard from all partners who wanted EXES or again.
- 14%said they are playing more in the date app.
- 13%felt more confident on their photos online
- 12%felt more confident for others
- 12%said they have more dates.
Dr. Amanda Gesselman, a research scientist and author of Kinsey Institute, said, “The use of GLP-1 is increasing among single adults and has begun to influence how people see and feel about themselves.
With Some polls 12%of the population attempted GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic, Zepbound and Wegovy, and it is more important to understand important social and psychological changes in relation to these drugs.
Dr. Gesselman said, “These changes have the potential to reconstruct how people can develop intimacy in today’s date environment.” For example, as users have a decrease in appetite and lowering alcohol, classic dinner and drink dates can go as a new connection method. “
About half (52%) of GLP-1 users reported that drugs affected sexual life in a positive and negative way. for example:
- 18 percent said their sexual desire increased. Said 16%decreased
- 16%said they were more comfortable in the way they looked naked. 14%said they were not comfortable
- 16%said that sexual function has been improved. 12%said they worsened.
Dr. Justin Lehmiller and one of the authors of KINSEY Institute, one of the senior researchers of KINSEY Institute, said, “I think there is a subtle story here. It depends on a variety of factors, such as whether it was. “
The survey results also showed significant differences depending on the gender, and men seemed to experience all more positive and negative side effects of using GLP-1. Compared to women, men were more likely to say that sexual desire had increased, and was happier to the body and better sexual function. However, men were more likely to report their low sexual desire, feel worse about the body, and to reduce their sexual function after taking GLP-1.
The results also suggested that GLP-1 drugs can help men in a date life than women. Men felt more confident about their appearance than women and were three times more likely to say that they were experiencing more games in the date app. It was also likely to say that men are on a more date.
However, men also felt more stigma, and 60%were 35%fear of being considered to have taken GLP-1 drugs. 26%of the 2,000 surveys responded that this stigma is not caused because 26%said they would not date GLP-1 and 29%said they were not sure.
The most common reason is that the drug is not fully known about the long -term side effects of the drug (49%), these drugs are used excessively (32%), and weight loss should be managed by lifestyle (29%), not medication (29%), and because people who need this drug do not use it for absolute health purposes, Faith because it is not used for (21%) for medical purposes.
