But have you ever wondered whether it’s okay to consume flaxseeds at any time of the day, or is there a specific time of day when you can consume them and reap maximum benefits? To answer this question, nutritionist Deepsikha Jain, UK-based Master of Global Public Health Nutrition and national diabetes educator, shared an Instagram video on November 5.

When is the right time to consume flax seeds?

To get the maximum benefit from consuming flax seeds, nutritionists have suggested three timings: “Flaxseeds have great health benefits, but you need to consume them at the right times. Consume just 1 to 2 tablespoons per day – no more than that. If you want to maximize the health benefits, here are the three best times to eat flaxseeds,” she emphasizes.

She said you can consume superfoods at any of the three timings she suggests, depending on what your body needs.

1. If you want to consume healthy fats, eat them on an empty stomach.

The nutritionist suggested mixing flax seeds with a glass of water and taking it on an empty stomach. “Flaxseeds are a good source of fat because they contain omega-3s, which can improve gut health and stabilize blood sugar,” she emphasized.

2. Before meals to prevent overeating

Next, she suggested taking a tablespoon of flax seeds before a meal. It is rich in fiber, which helps you feel full and prevent overeating.

3. As a midday snack

Lastly, you can consume flaxseeds as a midday snack with fruit or yogurt, as suggested by nutritionists. According to her, this combination provides a source of protein and probiotics that are good for gut health.
