- Lung cancer around the world is a major cause of death around the world for both men and women.
- In 2020, there were 2.5 million new lung cancer cases worldwide and 1.8 million people died.
- Smoking is responsible for about 85%of the case, but it also contributes to other factors such as air pollution and occupational exposure.
- Early diagnosis is still a difficult task, making lung cancer a major public health problem worldwide.
- First prevention (e.g. tobacco control measures and reduced exposure to environmental risk factors) can reduce the incidence of lung cancer and save life.
This day reminds us of the importance of:
- prevention: Exposure and rectal safety for non -smoking, harmful pollutants can significantly reduce the risk of lung cancer.
- Early detection: Selecting high -risk individuals through low -dose CT scan can catch lung cancer early, improving survival opportunities.
- Access to treatment: Advanced treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, target therapy and immunotherapy, provides hope, but everyone should be able to access it.
- Support: Providing emotional and supportive treatment to patients and families improves the quality of life through all stages of the disease.
World Lung Cancer Day also recognizes those who are affected by the disease and require the government, medical service providers and community to act collectively. We can promote a healthy environment, develop research, and ensure a fair approach to medical care.
