Capital Region, NY (WRGB) – The New York State Health Department warns potential measles exposure in the emergency room of the two Capital Region Hospitals of the Albany Medical Center and Saratoga Hospital.
According to DOH, the residents of adult Vermont who have recently traveled internationally and want to be treated at the two hospitals later measles. The risk of infection is low, but individuals in the emergency room of Saratoga Hospital on July 14, 2025 are recommended to contact the medical service provider directly. On July 16, 2025, an individual exposed to the Albany Medical Center emergency room has already been confirmed and directly contacted.
“Measles remains a threat to public health and exposure while traveling,” said James McDonald. “Protect yourself and your family from measles, and keep your vaccination to the latest state with measles, flaws and rubella (MMR) vaccines.”
All partners are working with the Albany Medical Center and Saratoga Hospital to investigate the events and take the necessary measures to prevent the spread of measles.
The Albany Medical Center vice president and hospital manager Jason Mouzakes said: “The only academic medical center and level 1 trauma center in this area, the emergency room is entirely prepared for serious diseases that can be presented in our doors. In order to minimize the exposure, we acted immediately and appropriately, and we were notified according to the protocol.
All New York residents have to protect themselves by providing the latest information on measles, epidemic downitis and rubella vaccines, along with vaccinations for other important lives, and knowing health advice when traveling with individuals, especially children who are not vaccinated.
Measles are very contagious and serious respiratory diseases that cause rashes and heat. In some cases, measles can reduce the ability of the immune system to fight other infections such as pneumonia.

The best protection for measles is measles, fashionable loweritis and rubella vaccines. People who travel must be completely vaccinated for measles two weeks before departure. One capacity provides 93 %protection, while the two capacity provides 97 %protection.
Those who are not sure of vaccination status should find a vaccination record and consult with the medical service provider.
A six -month young baby must get a MMR vaccine once if you travel abroad. After the trip, these babies must continue to receive the following two MMR vaccines for a total of three vaccines.
The department announced on April 2, according to the age of a traveler, all medical service providers, including a specific MMR vaccine schedule, are available. Unprotected people can get measles while traveling, and can easily spread to others when they come home.
