Violent crimes continue to fall
Martin has soared violent crimes during the epidemic, but has since dropped to the poly mix level, Martin said.

At this region’s level, allegheny West and ROXBOROUGH decreased by 23%due to the biggest decrease in violent crimes between 2022 and 2024. But there is an area that has soared during that period. In Frankford, violent crimes increased 14%, Wynnesfield 13%, Mantua 5%, and Northeast Philadelphia.

The average unemployment rate of Philadelphia in 2024 was 4.5%, slightly increased from 4.2%in 2023, but decreased from 12.4%in 2020. The national unemployment rate was 4.1%in 2024. Philadelphia has a lower unemployment rate than Detroit, Chicago, Washington, DC and Cleveland.
