First in FOX: As Senator Tedbird, RN.C., introduced a companion bill to a home -led legislation for a nutritional retailer, efforts to remove the GNC owned by the US military base this week have gained momentum this week.
About 85 GNC stores are currently operated in the US military installation. A spokesman for RN.C. for the first time, he introduced a bill that prohibits business at the US base, citing national security and espionage issues for the first time.
Now, North Carolina Republican fellow Republican anxiety is making similar efforts in the Senate, and the store is used as a hub to use “personal data.”

BUDD said, “There is no place for hostile countries to own and operate a business on US military bases, and it has gained profits to benefit from personal identification information of US citizens.
“We should not allow a company that is raised in the US, as well as a company raised in the United States,” said Cotton.
Most of the parliament focused on preventing China’s land acquisition near the US military installation, but Harrigan found that China owned that there was no doubt at the US base.
Harrigan told Fox News Digital last week that “it’s crazy than foreign land purchase.”
In June 2020, GNC, a vitamin retailer, filed a bankruptcy and was completely acquired by Harbin Pharmaceuticals, a state -owned Chinese company that purchased 40% stake in 2018.

In 2019, GNC agreed to integrate manufacturing with the International Vitamin Corporation (IVC), which has a Chinese investor consortium.
Founded in Pittsburgh, the company has already been operated at the US base for many years at the time of sale, and therefore the potential to help Chinese monitoring of military bases has been overlooked.
About 85 GNC stores on military installation are operated in accordance with the “long -term concession” contract, which means that GNC directly operates, employees and supplies.
Harrigan said of the new Senate Act, “We are pleased to promote this and see if the CCP -owned company has no zero in the US military infrastructure.”
In a statement on the FOX News Digital, a GNC spokesman withdrew this bill and said, “Our system is monitored independently and meets strict federal standards and participates in various audits throughout the year.”

“We love military customers. We will always come first, regardless of the safety of personal health. We are a member of the community and will continue to protect information like all customers,” GNC said.
Harrigan said the store can identify individuals with vulnerabilities by frequently purchasing testosterone, sleep AIDS or other supplements. He also can monitor the deployment cycle with changes in the purchase pattern, he added.

Wi-Fi and mobile data tracking in the store can disclose unit geography, Harrigan claims, and can include malicious links or software using loyalty apps or promotion emails.
Scott said, “This must be common sense.” It is an unacceptable threat to allow companies controlled by our largest foreign enemies, such as communist China, Russia, and North Korea, can be operated at US military bases. ”
