Eugene, Ore. – As the US measles continued to occur in the recent incident in Hawaii, our station talked about what we could safely protect with local health authorities.
Last year, Oregon saw a small outbreak with 31 cases in the Portland subway area. Primarily does not receive vaccinations.

Rain County hasn’t had a significant measles over the past 12 years, but County is still encouraged to take active preventive measures against IRU because of its high infectious personality.
According to Dr. Patrick Luedtke of Lane County Public Health (LCPH), “Measles vaccines have 97% effect if they get two doses, and have only two capacity since 1989 but have lifetime immunity.
Dr. Luedtke emphasizes that travel is a repetitive spreader of measles over a year. Especially when children come back from spring vacation.
“When the spring vacation comes every year, people in public health look around the world, look around the hotspot for a spring vacation trip, and what kind of disease is happening? A few years ago, there was a great trend in Mexico, and many people go to Mexico for spring vacation.
