2 NYC Cat’s bird flu, health authorities -NBC New York

The New York City Health Bureau confirmed two cases in a separate household where cats tested positive. Bird fluThe officials were announced on Friday.

Dr. Michelle MORSE issued a statement that cats were infected with H5 avian influenza and warned the owner to take precautions for feeding pets.

“It reminds you that pet owners should not feed pet day food or raw milk. Also, pet owners should prevent cats from outdoor activities that can be in contact with wild birds or other animals.”

Health officials were still investigating how cats were infected with bird flu. They also did not share the details of the animal’s current conditions.

According to the NYC Health Department, cat friends can eat algae flu by eating infected birds, drinking milk (unheated low -temperature sterilized) milk and eating fresh pet feeds.

The owner should find signs of heat, runny nose, water eyes, shortness of breath, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea and behavioral changes.

Moss reminded New York citizens that the danger of catching a new flu remains “low.”

“The bird flu virus shows a wider risk to the general public only if the virus develops the ability to spread people,” MORSE added.
